National Farmers Day – October 12TH

October 12TH is National Farmers Day! It is a day for us all to pay tribute to all the farmers of today and throughout American history. Since October is nearing the end of harvest, it is fitting for us to celebrate National Farmer’s Day during this month. This is a time to really give thanks for your food and the perfect opportunity to show gratitude to those that made it happen from the ground to our dinner tables.

During harvest seasons, it is not uncommon for farmers to work 12 to 16 hours at a time and many dedicate their weekends to selling their foods at the local farmer markets. This is why it is so important to thank your local farmers for choosing a vocation that is often thankless and requires long, hard hours. Following harvest season, a farmer can actually take a much needed break! We thank the farmers across America for their endless hard work and dedication to growing the foods we all enjoy to eat.

By visiting your local farmers market, you can honor your local farmers for their efforts to bring everyone fresh, nutritious foods and also their valuable contributions to our economy. You can learn about the varieties of foods, how they are grown, harvested, and brought to the market. They appreciate the interest in their life’s work and shows them that we care about what we consume and how it is grown.

Trinity Premier Dental encourages healthy eating and fresh is always best! A healthy diet is beneficial for overall health and the health of your smile. Maintaining your bright and healthy smile is important to us and we encourage everyone to keep up with their 6 month checkups. Give us a call for your next appointment at (813) 475 – 4528. We look forward to seeing you.

Enjoy eating freshly harvested foods and remember the people that have grown it!
Happy National Farmers Day!

National Preparedness Month Week 1 – Flood

Just as Florida’s East Coast braces itself for the landfall of Tropical Storm Hermine, National Preparedness Month Week 1 is at our doorstep. September the 1st marks the beginning of a national campaign to bring awareness to families so they can be prepared for disasters and other hazardous events that may come their way. Having a game plan for your household can help protect you and your loved ones from potential struggles, stresses, and health risks that can occur during any type of emergency situation. The entire month of September is dedicated to making sure that each family has steps in place before such an event takes place. Each week is divided into themes to bring more awareness concerning particular disastrous events.

National Preparedness Month Weekly Themes:
    • Week 1 – Sept 1–5  Flood
    • Week 2 – Sept 6–12 Wildfire
    • Week 3 – Sept 13–19  Hurricane
    • Week 4 – Sept 20–26  Power Outage
    • Week 5 – Sept 27–30 Lead up to National PrepareAthon! Day, September 30

National Preparedness Month Week 1 – Flood

With this storm approaching our area, we would like to share information and resources about flooding safety and preparation. Floods are the focus for the week of Sept 1-5. Ready.gov explains the actions to take if your area receives a flood watch or warning alert from the National Weather Service. They offer in depth details and steps to take before, during and after a flooding event.  They also teach basic safety tips, flood warning vs. flood watch, and other help information and resources.

Inland flooding is the leading weather-related cause of death in the United States. Every year, almost as many people die from flooding as from hurricanes, tornadoes and lightning combined. Most flood-related deaths and injuries could be avoided if people who come upon areas covered with water followed this simple advice: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. Oci.ga.gov

In our neck of the woods, we are quite accustomed to flooding conditions. Keeping informed and prepared for rising waters and the dangers involved should be on everyone’s priority list. Trinity Premier Dental encourages the promotion of this important month of preparedness. Reach out and share thoughts, ideas, and information using #NatlPrep. We want everyone to Stay Safe and Be Prepared!

August is National Peach Month

There are countless ways to honor juicy peaches during the month of August: Learn some new recipes that include peaches, enjoy a bowl of peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, or simply eat a peach straight from the tree in its whole state. 50 Juicy Peach Recipes for (an Endless) Summer has so many recipes using the peach as the star of the show. You are sure to find something you can’t wait to sink your teeth into.

It’s always pleasant to hear that something that tastes so good is actually good for you. Peaches are an excellent source of vitamins A & C, fiber, potassium and other healthy nutrients. They are also very low in calories (about 60 for one medium peach).

Complete Nutritional Data

Peaches & Oral Health

Peaches contain antioxidants that help fight free radicals and protect the body against infection and harmful diseases. Peaches contain phosphorous and calcium, which help strengthen bones & teeth and repair of bodily tissues. Foods that are rich in phosphorus aid in preventing bone diseases that cause bone loss, such as osteoporosis. It helps with re-mineralization of bones so they maintain their rigidity. Along with calcium, the vitamin C content in peaches also plays an important role in the strengthening of jaw bones and gums, which helps in keeping the teeth intact.

Be sure to keep up with your daily dental routine and as always, try to brush and floss as quickly as you can after having sugary foods. The acid in these sweet foods can break down the enamel of your teeth, which is not very “peachy”.

Happy National Peach Month from Trinity Premier Dental! If you need to make an appointment, give us a call at (727) 835-7076.

Fun Facts: The peach is a member of the rose family and is a close relative of almonds. It originates from China and is a symbol of good luck, protection and longevity.
